The scheme supports residents in Elmbridge who are unable to travel using existing transport services due to genuine personal mobility problems or rural isolation. The scheme supports people to remain independent in their own homes.
Residents in their own homes, including sheltered housing schemes can apply. Those residents in nursing/residential homes, in full time employment, and those who have regular use of a car will not be entitled to receive taxi vouchers. Funding for the scheme is limited and we cannot guarantee that everyone who applies will receive vouchers. Those considered to have the greatest need are the most likely to receive vouchers.
How it works
The scheme provides voucher books which are worth £154. These books are made up of 77 vouchers, each worth £2.00. The vouchers, which are security printed and coded, may only be used to pay or part pay for journeys using taxi operators participating in the scheme and are subject to the conditions of carriage of the taxi operator.
The book of taxi vouchers is not transferable and must only be used by the person(s) named on the cover of the voucher book. The book must be presented to the driver at the time of travel to obtain the concession. Drivers are not obliged to give change.
The scheme runs from 1 June to 31 May each year and successful applicants receive one book of vouchers per scheme.
Elmbridge Borough Council contributes towards the scheme which is administered by the Tandridge Adult Social Care team.
To be sent an application form for the 1 June scheme please email Community Support Services or call on 01372 474552 from the beginning of April.
