The Relief Carers Scheme offers a range of training, support and respite services for carers and engaging day groups for people living with memory loss.
Specialist day groups
Our 11 specialist memory loss groups operate from the centres for the community, where members can enjoy reminiscence, light exercise, social engagement, word puzzles and various other activities. Groups usually run from 10am-3pm and each session is supervised by trained members of staff. A freshly cooked meal is provided along with morning and afternoon refreshments.
These groups enable carers to have some time to themselves during the day whilst the person being cared for is being supported at the group.
Specialist day group costs
- Weybridge: £27 on Mondays and £35.25 on Tuesdays
- Claygate: £35.25 on Monday and £35.25 on Thursdays
- Molesey: £27 on Tuesdays and £35.25 on Wednesdays
- Walton: £27 on Wednesdays and £35.25 on Tuesdays and Fridays
- Thames Ditton: £35.25 on Thursdays
- Hersham: £35.25 on Fridays
Note: The three £27 groups are subsidised through funding from Surrey County Council. We are able to provide transport for most groups through the Community Transport Service, at an additional cost.
All our groups are now available to non-Elmbridge residents for £48 per session. Unfortunately, we are unable to provide transport for these clients.
The café is a meeting place for those affected by conditions causing memory loss and confusion, their carers, families and friends. All are welcome to meet others in similar circumstances, gain information and support from professionals, join discussion groups, listen to speakers and enjoy live entertainment at our seasonal social evenings.

At assessment stage we will establish the interests of the individual and ensure we are able accommodate.

Training for carers
We run annual training sessions for carers beginning in March and running for nine weeks. These sessions are specifically geared to carers who have recently started caring for a partner, relative of friend with dementia, confusion or Alzheimer’s and cover a variety of topics relevant to diagnosis and for new and existing carers. Training is conducted by guest speakers with topics such as power of attorney, continence, moving and handling.
Please contact the Relief Carers team on 01372 474547 to discuss any of these services.
