Community Support Services Meal Services

Community Support Services provides two meal services for residents in Elmbridge - the Meals on Wheels Service and the Frozen Meals Service.

The Meals-on-Wheels service provides hot meals to older and disabled people in the community who are unable to prepare meals or to heat frozen meals.

Referrals for the service can only be accepted from Health and Adult and Community Care professionals including: GPs, district nurses, hospital discharge co-ordinators.

The referral agency will need to fully complete |The Single Assessment Form and Meals on Wheels Referral Sheet before the service can commence. A plated meal at a Centre for Retired People

Criteria for referral, the client must be:

  • Living alone and unable to cook for self
  • Housebound and unable to shop for a main meal
  • At risk of malnutrition; not motivated to cook
  • Unaware of time and/or need for regular meals, where there is clear evidence of confusion
  • Living with an elderly carer who requires assistance

The weekend service is only provided to totally housebound retired residents who do not have family living locally.

Cost of Service

Meals on Wheels VolunteerThe cost of the meal and sweet is £3.25 and without sweet £2.95. Dessert only £1.05. Please note that for hot meals delivered at weekends to Hersham, Walton, Weybridge, Cobham, Oxshott and Stoke D'Abernon there is an additional cost of 50 pence per day.

Payment can be made by cash or cheque either on a daily or weekly basis. Alternatively, a monthly account, payable in arrears, administered through the Civic Centre can be arranged.Centre and Meals on Wheels Cooks

We endeavour to provide meals that meet the medical and cultural needs of customers and a flyer detailing our |specialist menu range is available.

All meals are prepared at the Centres for Retired People around the borough and are delivered by volunteers. Upon referral the client will be assessed by one of the Centre Managers.

Frozen Meals Service

We are able to refer residents to a frozen meals service provided by Wiltshire Farms food at a preferential rate of £2.55 for meal and pudding (or soup) and £2.80 for a premium meal and pudding (or soup). Please contact Community Support Services for further information.
