Claygate and Oxshott Sure Start Children's Centre

The Claygate and Oxshott SureStart Children's Centre is run by Elmbridge Borough Council's Community Support Services and is based at the Claygate Centre.

This Centre provides a variety of services to support children aged 0-5 and their families by offering the following:

  • Play and early learning activities
  • Expert advice, healthcare, parenting and family support
  • Brushing up on your skills and learning new ones
  • Working with local childminders to support them through groups, training and vacancy co-ordination
  • Provide an outreach service and family support groups
  • Links to training and job opportunities through JobCentre Plus
  • Family fun and meeting friends
  • |The Claygate Centre is dual use and also runs activities for the elderly

Opening Times

We are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday,
9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Facilities include

Disabled access, toilet, baby changing facilities, breast feeding friendly, coffee bar, refreshments, pushchair/buggy park.

Weekly Activities

Tuesday

  • Citizens Advice Service - A weekly, by-appointment only service to offer advice and support on a range of issues run by Esher Citizens Advice Bureau. Appointments are at 10am, 10.45am and 11.30am and must be pre-booked at the Claygate Centre office. The Citizens Advice Bureau provide up to date information on a wide range of topics, including benefits, housing, employment and debt, consumer and legal issues. This service is free, impartial, confidential and independent.
  • Child & Baby Health Clinic - Now run by appointment system which can be booked through Molesey Health Centre 020 8979 6464. Clinic runs from 1.15pm - 2.45pm

Wednesday

  • Play & Learn Sessions for Childminders and Home Based Carers and their children, Claygate Sure Start Children's Centre, 9.30am - 11.00am

Thursday

  • Play & Learn - A fun programme of learning through play at the Claygate Sure Start Children's Centre, 9.30am - 11.00am

  • Baby Massage & an Introduction to Baby Yoga
  • Baby Yoga

Childminders

There is a weekly play and learn session for registered childminders and home based carers. This is a fun programme of learning through play. Play & learn Sessions run every Wednesday at Claygate Sure Start Children's Centre, 9.30am - 11.00am.

Advisory Board Parent Representatives

Any parent can volunteer to put himself or herself forward as a Parent Representative. Our Advisory Board is made up of Children's Centre Staff, Head Teachers, G.P's, Health Visitors, Pre-school and Nursery Teachers, Local Councillors and police, voluntary sector and playgroups. The board aims to meet each term and parent representatives will be required to attend these meetings.

Representatives will be asked to come along to at least one activity every term, to let other parents and carers know what is going on and find out their views on current issues.

If you are interested in becoming a representative please contact the |Childrens Centre Manager.

Dad's Breakfast Club runs once a month on a Sunday, if you would like to find out when the next one is please call the centre for information.
