Add a touch of splendour to your ceremony
Today with more and more couples looking for an alternative venue at which to hold their ceremony, we invite you to exchange your vows in the civic splendour of Elmbridge Borough Council's Civic Suite.
Offering a pleasing balance of modern and traditional, the Civic Centre was built in the early 1990's, providing a fine example of contemporary architecture and housing our Council Chamber, a beautiful room steeped in tradition and full of Civic pride, and our bright airy Committee Room.
Set in attractively landscaped grounds, the Civic Centre is secluded yet easy to find - we are just off Esher High Street. We are easily accessible by road (M25 and A3) or rail and car parking is available adjacent to the building.

We look forward to welcoming you and your guests to Elmbridge.

The Council Chamber can accommodate parties of up to 130 people (up to 70 in the main Chamber with a further 60 in its integral Public Gallery). The Chamber is air conditioned and tastefully furnished in light oak complemented with deep turquoise fittings and elegant silk flower displays. This provides a comfortable environment in which everyone is guaranteed a clear view of the happy couple exchanging their vows.

Arranging Your Ceremony In The Civic Suite
Once you have decided on the date and time you would like to hold your ceremony, the following guidance will help with your arrangements.
Contact the Civic Centre to make provisional arrangements for your ceremony at the Civic Suite (telephone 01372 474221)
Once this provisional booking has been made, contact the Superintendent Registrar at The Register Office, Rylston, 81 Oatlands Drive, Weybridge, Surrey, KT13 9LN (telephone via Surrey County Council on 0845 600 9009 and ask for Weybridge Registrar) and make a booking. Without the superintendent registrar and a registrar there can be no ceremony and any arrangements at the Civic Suite depend entirely on their availability.
Please view Surrey County Council's website for more information on the legal requirements for |Civil Weddings and |Civil Partnerships.
You must also give notice to the superintendent registrar(s) of the district(s) in which you both live. This notice must be given in person by one of you but is valid for only three months. One of the couple should, therefore, attend the register office where you live as soon as possible after notice can be given.
Any arrangements made for a ceremony at the Civic Suite are dependent upon:
- the attendance of the superintendent registrar and a registrar for the district in which our premises are situated; and,
- the issue ot the authority or authorities for the ceremony by the superintendent registrar(s) to who notice of the ceremony was given.
When notice is given in a different registration district from the once where the ceremony is taking place, the couple will have to collect the authority before the ceremony and ensure that it is delivered to the registrar who is to attend the ceremony.
Please do not forget when deciding to hold your ceremony within the Civic Suite, that only the superintendent registrar permits a civil, non-religious ceremony. Any music, reading, words or performance, which forms any part of your ceremony, must be secular. The content of your ceremony must be agreed in advance with the superintendent registrar who will be attending the ceremony.
Any rights of copyright for music, readings etc permitted at the ceremony should be discussed with |Head of Facilities Management at the Civic Centre.
