The Borough of Elmbridge is Twinned with the Ville de Rueil-Malmaison, France.
Since 1966 both communities have promoted exchanges between schools, sports clubs, artistic and cultural societies, the organisation of which is undertaken by the Elmbridge Twinning Guild.

Each year, an Exchange Visit is organised when 'Friends of the Twinning Guild' are invited to participate. Home hospitality on a reciprocal basis is the pattern for most twinning exchanges and is undoubtedly the most effective way of building up a twinning relationship as well as keeping costs of exchange visits as low as possible.
The picturesque town of Rueil-Malmaison lies in the Department of the Hauts de Seine, five miles west of Paris on the River Seine. It has many parks and flowered squares but is perhaps best known for it's Chateau, once home to Napoleon's Josephine.

The Twinning Committee meets regularly to consider Twinning matters and make arrangements in respect of the forthcoming Exchange Visit. The Chairman of the Twinning Committee is Mrs Rosemary Dane. The A.G.M. is held each October to which all Friends of the Twinning Guild are welcome to attend.
New 'Friends of the Guild' are always welcome, so should you wish to affiliate to the Guild the annual affiliation fee is £5 per household or £10 per club/association.
