The Council is responsible for the administration of all public elections held within the Borough of Elmbridge, covering referendums, parish, borough, county, UK parliamentary and European parliamentary elections.

The Electoral Register
The Council publishes a new Register of Electors on 1st December each year. We send a household voter registration form to every residential property in the borough at the end of August each year and use the information you give us to publish the new Register.

Who has access to the Electoral Register?
The Electoral Registration Officer maintains two versions of the Register of Electors. These are known as the Full Register and the Edited Register.

How can I vote by post?
Anybody who is registered to vote can apply to vote by post, without having to give a reason. You can apply for a postal vote for all elections or just for one kind (e.g. local elections).

Can I ask somebody else to vote for me?
If you may not be able to get to your polling station and would prefer not to have a postal vote, you can appoint somebody else to act as your proxy and go to the polling station on your behalf.
