|The Federation of Small Businesses (FSB)

Formed in 1974 as a campaigning pressure group promoting and protecting the interests of the self-employed and owners of small firms. Today the FSB has grown to 185,000 members and is the largest independent voice for small businesses in the UK. Through its London Office Policy Unit, representations are made to Government and politicians over the ever-rising burdens, business costs and other issues that affect the small business sector. Local MPs are also met periodically at Branch and Regional level.

FSB membership costs from £100 per annum, depending upon the number of employees, plus a £30.00 joining fee. Members have access to a 24 hour telephone legal advice line and a legal insurance policy is taken out on behalf of the members, which includes representation for employment tribunals, tax investigation, VAT, DSS, and PAYE and jury service compensation. Full details and conditions of the legal scheme are available on request from Head Office. Other benefits include competitive business insurance and telephone call discounts.

Branches in Surrey host local meetings and events including seminars on topical issues and business-to-business socials. Members receive magazines and newsletters, which contain a mix of FSB news and articles of small business relevance.
