Building Control - Demolitions

In the majority of cases if you wish to demolish a building or part, you are required to notify us at Building Control in writing, giving six weeks notice. We provide a |demolition notice form that you can download. You can then either complete it in its PDF format on your computer then print it, or print it and fill it out by hand. Once it is complete please send it to the

Head of Building Control, Building Control Division
Elmbridge Borough Council, Civic Centre, High Street, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9SD

Following receipt of this notice an officer produces the official Section 81 notice, from the Building Act of 1984 together with a demolition plan. These are then returned to you via first class post.

As a complementary service we send copies of the Section 81 Notice along with the demolition map to internal council departments, Surrey Fire Brigade, Health and Safety Executive, Environment Agency, Seeboard Power Connect, British Gas and the relevant water board. Copies of the notice are also sent to adjoining properties of the site.

Our officers then monitor the demolition process, this ensures that it is completed following the regulations and to the time scale of the notice.
