
The Building Control Division consists of the Head of Building Control and 8 technical officers. The Division is organised into three teams (North, East and West) and each are charged with carrying out the whole range of building control functions.
What is Building Control
The Building Control system exists to make sure that buildings are designed and constructed in accordance with the Building Regulations.
The Building Regulations are a national set of regulations made under the powers of the Building Act 1984. They provide guidance through |Approved Documents, which provide a minimum standard of design and construction for new buildings, alterations and extensions.
