Archaeological Sites and Monuments

Several archaeological sites identified as of national importance are given statutory protection as Scheduled Ancient Monuments.

The Council's policies extend protection to other sites of potentially national importance which have been identified and designated as Areas of High Archaeological Potential, and to the historic parks and gardens at Painshill, Claremont and Oatlands Park.
