Community Safety Fund

The Community Safety Partnership has established a Community Safety ( small grants ) Fund for residents, businesses, local voluntary groups community safety  logo
and those working in community related services within Elmbridge to apply for funding for initiatives or projects they wish to undertake which support one or more of the Partnership priorities. These are to: reduce crime, reduce anti social behaviour, reduce violence, reduce drug and alcohol abuse, increase public confidence and promote positive youth activities.

Community Safety Fund Applications


Criteria and Guidance for use of Funds

a) Support for any one project will not normally exceed £500.

b) Proposals meeting the criteria will be considered by members of the community present at the public meeting(s) of the Elmbridge Community Safety partnership.

c) If any approved proposal seeks funds for capital items these will be purchased by the Partnership and provided.

d) Contributions will not normally be made to cover funding gaps arising from budget reduction decisions.

e) Priority will be given to proposals attracting an element of match funding.

f) Applications will be considered from any individuals, groups, business or organisation within the borough of Elmbridge and for projects or work undertaken within Elmbridge.

g) Applications from private clubs or other membership organisations must clearly demonstrate the wider community benefit of the project

h) Projects must not contravene any of the Partnership agency's agreed policies or priorities

i) The application should be for a future project, not a retrospective request.

j) The application should not be to cover ongoing revenue costs.

k) Proposals must be for projects / work not currently being undertaken by any of the Partner agencies

l) There is a general presumption against requests for repeat funding for the same project

m) Successful bids must mention the grant and the Partnership in any publicity

The following is a definition for "capital" in these circumstances:

Capital expenditure is defined as the acquisition, construction, enhancement or replacement of an asset. An asset can be land & buildings, vehicles, plant, furniture & equipment or infrastructure. In order for an asset to be capitalised it should yield benefits for a period of more than one year.
