Employee Recognition Scheme 'Elmbridge Heroes'

The Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development Central Southern Branch awarded the 2007 'Best People Practice' to Elmbridge Borough Council for its Elmbridge Heroes initiative.

Awards take place twice a year.

Who Can Nominate

Any member of the public, anyone working for our partners or anyone who works for Elmbridge Borough Council can nominate.

How to Nominate

Complete an |Employee Recognition Award Nomination Form available externally on the website, the Elmbridge Review, the centres for retired people, Civic Centre reception; and internally in Inside Story (the Council's internal magazine) and on Bridge-it (the Council's Intranet)

What happens after I nominate?

You will receive confirmation of your nomination. Your nomination will be verified and passed to the judging panel for consideration.

Who is the judging panel?

The panel are the Head of Personnel, a Unison representative and one Head of Service from each Directorate.

What kind of people win awards?

Anyone working for Elmbridge Borough Council at any level who has exceeded expectations can win an award. Council officers who have shown exceptional commitment to their work and who have contributed to improvements in our services in some significant way: the unsung heroes of the organisation. It doesn't matter what service they are providing, just as long as they are doing it exceptionally well.

What are the rewards?

  • Employee Award: a box of 'Heroes' chocolates and a signed certificate from the Chief Executive.
  • Team Award: a large box of 'Heroes' chocolates and individually signed certificates from the Chief Executive.
  • All winners will have their photograph and a written article included in Inside Story (the Council's internal magazine), on Bridge-it (the Council's Intranet), in the Elmbridge Review and on the website.
  • Photographs of winners will appear in a 'hall of fame' at the Civic centre and centres for retired people.
  • Once a year, a lunch will be organised with all the winners, hosted by the Chief Executive.
