Related Party Transactions

Every year all Elmbridge Councillors and Chief Officers make a declaration of any "Related Party Transactions" they may have had with the Council.

A "Related Party" is a person or organisation having a degree of influence over the Councillor/Officer (or vice-versa). It is right, and in the interests of openness and transparency, if readers of the Council's Accounts have knowledge of all related parties.

The Accounting Code of Practice for Local Authorities requires the identification of related party transactions as a disclosure note within the Statement of Accounts.

Examples of interests that might give rise to relevant transactions are where the Councillor/Officer: -

- owns a company or has a major shareholding in a company that has a contract with the Council
- holds a position of influence within a voluntary organisation that receives a grant from or provides services to the Council
- receives income from an organisation that relies upon funding from the Council

Declaration Forms are available for public inspection at the Civic Centre in Esher during normal office hours. These records may be inspected by appointment. Please contact the |Councils Monitoring Officer
