Our Approach to Performance Management
Performance Management is simply a system for maintaining and improving the work that we do. At Elmbridge we use a cascade approach to performance management which is driven by our residents through the Community Strategy:
- |Community Strategy
This represents a partnership approach to improving the quality of life in Elmbridge. It places the people of the Borough at the centre of everything we do. - |Vision and Top Priorities
Our Vision must reflect the requirements of our residents. The key developments are identified each year through consultation with our residents. These core activities are what we will do in order to achieve our vision. - |Corporate Plan Taking Elmbridge Forward each year is our Corporate Plan, which sets out our objectives for the year ahead. It informs staff, councillors and other stakeholders what we, as a council, are trying to achieve and provides a way of measuring our success.
- Service Delivery Plans
Service Delivery Plans identify our team objectives for delivering work priorities throughout the year. - Team and Personal Action Plans
The fulfilment of Service Delivery Plans depends on individual action plans being achieved. These are discussed and agreed between officers and their manager as part of our annual staff appraisals.
Performance Management Cycle
Our Performance Management process not only cascades but is also cyclical - on two levels, strategic and operational:
- Strategic Corporate Planning Cycle
The Community Strategy is at the centre of all we do and determines each of the corporate activities that we undertake throughout the year. - Business / Operational Planning Cycle
In turn, the Corporate Plan guides our service operations that take place throughout the year.
